The Chapters of Tragedy by The UWYC youth board members (2007) ~ Loss ~ Hurting ~ Growing Pains ~ ~ Reorganizing ~ Rebuilding ~ Remembering ~ Loss Everyone knows some loss-  divorce, moving, pet death, regretting mistakes, leaving friends, new school/job, breaking up, betrayal by a trusted person. It surrounds us, touches our lives; but over days,  weeks, and months we adjust and move on. Tragedy A tragedy is a life-altering event or situation that changes things in ways that can never be "fixed"; Death, Violence, severe Illness/Disability, Danger, Abandonment. It invades and disrupts our lives and thoughts for  months, years, or a lifetime. Hurting The aftermath of a new tragedy is often marked by a constant, painful reawakening to the reality that things are different now. Growing Pains The process of growing to accept life beyond tragedy can be long and difficult, with pain in every step forward and every step back. Reorganizing Reorganizing our lives beyond tragedy and grief holds the challenge of adjustment to a new world view. A new us with a New face...  a  New Phace. Rebuilding Then it comes. That bittersweet moment of soul silence when we realize we have survived this and  have learned to live on. Remembering Eventually the event or situation may cease to overshadow our lives, and the scars... the scars alone remain.
